Lymphangiogenic and Angiogenic Microvessel Density in Gastric Carcinoma

چکیده
The incidence of gastric cancer worldwide, and in particular in developing countries, has shown a marked increase (Inal et al., 2012). Poor prognosis of gastric cancer patients occurs due to rapid metastasis of the disease via the lymphs as well as blood in advanced stages. Previous studies have shown that lymphatic and blood vessel invasion (LBVI) is closely correlated with characteristics of gastric cancer patients, including tumor stage, lymph node metastasis and histological type, which may be used as the indices to determine the metastasis and prognosis of gastric cancer patients (del Casar et al., 2008; Kim et al., 2010; Du et al., 2012). The antibodies D2-40 and CD34 are characterized as specificity labels of the endothelial cells of the lymphatic and blood vessels. However, the correlation of D2-40 and CD34 antibodies with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis has yet to be adequately reported in the literature. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the malignant tissue using D2-40 and CD34 antibodies,

Introdution: Angiogenesis is important for tumor growth and metastasis. It is determined by microvessel density (MVD). The goal of this study was to evaluate microvessel density in the salivary glands mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) and its association with histological grading. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 17 mucoepidermoid carcinoma paraffin blocks were extracted. CD34 immunohistoc...

PURPOSE Many studies have shown that angiogenesis has an important role in the growth, progression, and metastasis of solid tumors. Recently, several angiogenic factors have been identified. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a well characterized inducer of angiogenesis. In this study, we investigated the prognostic significance of the expression of VEGF in patients with an advanced g...

AIM OF THE STUDY This retrospective study attempts to evaluate the influence of serum vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C), microvessel density (MVD) and lymphatic vessel density (LMVD) on the result of tumour treatment in women with cervical cancer. MATERIAL AND METHODS The research was carried out in a group of 58 patients scheduled for brachytherapy for cervical cancer. All women ...
متن کاملAngiogenesis in gastric cancer: importance of the thymidine phosphorylase expression of cancer cells as an angiogenic factor.
Thymidine phosphorylase (TP) has been reported to stimulate angiogenesis in a variety of human malignancies. We investigated TP expression and its association with angiogenesis in 73 cases of resected gastric cancer. In addition, we compared the expression of the other angiogenesis related factors (VEGF, eNOS and p53) with that of TP with respect to angiogenesis. TP expression was not detected ...
متن کاملVascular endothelial growth factor expression and microvessel density--two useful tools for the assessment of prognosis and survival in gastric cancer patients.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The role of angiogenesis in progression and metastasis of gastric cancer has been studied over the last years. The aim of our study was to assess the microvessel density and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression in correlation with prognosis, survival and the risk for upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding as well. METHOD We prospectively assessed angiogenesis...
